Description
Fjord-cruise to glaciers along the northern coastline of “Isfjorden.”
Birds, seals and the start of Svalbards coalmining history at "Bohemanflya" are some of the things we might see on our way. Depending on the weather we explore our way towards the northern coastline and glacier fronts such as Nansen-, Bore-, Wahlenberg- or Svea Glaciers, closing up on one of them.
This is a unique opportunity to possibly encounter a glacier with massive pieces of ice breaking off from the glacier front. With vast opportunities to experience the arctic wildlife, keep your eyes open and look for whales, seals and a plethora of birds. And if we are lucky, a Polar Bear might be roaming around in these glacial habitats, or a massive walrus may be lazing on the shore…
Our guide/storyteller will talk about the history of Longyearbyen, glaciers, arctic wildlife, and possibly also a “polar tell tale” or two…
A warm meal is served in a refreshing glacial atmosphere.
If weather and ice-conditions allow, we’ll slow down and take in the beauty of the scenery at selected locations to savor precious moments for your travel diary.
